Wales region were hit by the love bug this valentine when they decided to host a themed Valentine’s event for service user in Swansea.
Each month Walsingham Support hosts a unique Mates & Dates event in Clydach for people they support and other individuals with disabilities in the local community to socialise and have fun.
To celebrate Valentine’s Day, the February Mates & Dates event had a bow tie and tiara theme with local singer, Jimmy Webb, providing entertainment singing classics such as Frank Sinatra.
The event, which took place at Manor Park Country House, was sponsored by First Choice Housing Association who also covered ticket costs for their tenants.
Regional Director for Wales, Chris Rees, commented on the event’s success saying
“It was an amazing event and great to see so many people we support as well as new faces enjoying themselves and getting involved. There are very few social events organised for people with disabilities and social isolation can be a big issue which is why it is so important that events such as this continue.”
