A group of service user from Richmond close took to the stage for a performance of Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Paula, Alison, Alan, Donna and Richard took part in the performance at the Lichfield Garrick Theatre earlier this month. This unique production is a collaboration between two fantastic drama groups, The Upstagers and Take a Bow run by MY Theatre and Film Co who specialise in teaching performance techniques to people with disabilities.
Support workers at the service have spent the last few months supporting the individuals to learn their lines, cues and dance moves in the run up to the performance.
A special preview performance took place last Thursday at the Coton centre in Tamworth and was attended by staff and family members.
Commenting on the preview, Amy, a support worker at Richmond Close, said
“Everyone really enjoyed the show and the families of the people we support were over the moon watching their loved ones perform. Many of them are going to watch the show again on Wednesday.”
